New TechnologiesTitanium-based ProstheticsOur dentists know methods of advanced prosthetics with ceramic fused to metal crowns the bars of which are made of titanium. The method ensures you maximal aesthetics and minimal preparation of teeth. The best advantage of a titanic bar is that the metal is completely biocompatible with the tissues of the oral cavity and has the least weight compared with other metals (even gold) which are used for ceramic fused to metal crowns. But the price for ceramic fused to metal titanic crowns is much lower than that of ceramic fused to metal golden ones. At the same time in terms of aesthetics and biocompatibility ceramic fused to metal titanic crowns are not worse than ceramic fused to metal golden crowns.
Zirconium oxide –based ceramics
This ceramic is completely compatible with the tissues of the oral cavity. The bar of the crowns has no metal but they are as firm and stable as ceramic fused to metal ones. The accuracy of making them is also unique. Laser scanner reads off the shape of future crowns into the computer programme and then it is possible to design a necessary bar. After that using a special machine (Switzerland) crowns are milled out of an integral piece of zirconium oxide. As a result we have a high-accuracy construction of crowns remarkable for perfect biocompatibility, high stability and irreproachable aesthetics. New techs in dental treatmentPreviously, when patients had a desire to change the shape of a tooth or its colour it was necessary to place a ceramic fused to metal crown on this tooth. Modern techs allow us not to make preparation of a tooth for a crown but to cover it with a special shell, i.e. make an aesthetic restoration. Veneers made of restorative materials and ceramics are used for this restoration. And your tooth will be alive and without preparation! Veneers made of restorative materials are performed during a patient’s visit to a dentist. The whole procedure takes about an hour. Ceramic veneers (sometimes called laminates) are made in the dental laboratory after making an impression of your tooth and designing its shape in computer programme. This may take about a week and you have to see a dentist twice (first time to make an impression, determine a shape and choose a colour and the next time to place the veneer on your tooth). Ceramic veneers are fixed on specially developed light sensitive adhesive material. They are more long-lived than those made of restorative materials. It should be emphasized that restorations are possible not only on front teeth but also on lateral ones. So a patient has an opportunity of coming to a dentist to discuss his/her expectations about the desired shape of a tooth (for instance, like an actor/photo-model’s teeth). Then the dentist designs this shape on the computer and shows the result. After getting the patient’s approval the dentist starts making veneers. We would like to put a particular stress on the fact that this method allows us to change the shape and colour of teeth avoiding preparation for crowns. We wish you smiles that you find the most charming! |
